My Great Grandmother and Grandmother never threw anything away, they saved scraps from old clothing, etc. for making quilts and removed all the buttons and saved them too. When my grandmother passed I asked the family if I could have a tin of those old buttons that my grandmother kept when my great grandmother passed. They looked at me kind of puzzled by my request but there were many memories flooding through my mind as I looked at those old buttons. My sister and I spent many nights at Nana's house playing with the things she had. Piles of buttons were sometimes pirate treasure, other times they were coins or poker chips in a high stakes game. They have little or no monetary value just a bunch of random buttons... but they are a keepsake to me and a treasure still.
These are "Nana's Buttons"
